We are pleased to invite and welcome you to the 7th International Open Friendship Taekwondo Championships and International Cultural Festival. This year’s event will be held October 25, 2008 at the Oregon Convention Center in Portland, Oregon, USA.

It is our pleasure to host this 7th International event for the third time in the USA.

We are proud of past championship successes, in the USA and IOFTC Championships hosted previously in Nepal, Hong Kong and India. In our work to host another successful event, we are building on our past successes as USA hosts, and IOFTC Board Members assisting the international host countries’ IOFTC Organizing Committees with their successful championships.

These Championships are sanctioned by the World Taekwondo Federation (WTF) and USA Taekwondo (USAT) that is the National Governing Body for the Olympic sport of Taekwondo, recognized by the United States Olympic Committee (USOC).

At the 7th International Open Friendship Taekwondo Championships and Cultural Festival, athletes will be provided the rare opportunity to compete against Taekwondo participants from all over the country and the world. Olympic Sparring and Traditional Forms Competitions will be officiated by qualified WTF International Referees under World Taekwondo Federation rules. This allows participants to gain valuable international competition experience.

The Championships and Cultural Festival promote friendship, goodwill, and competition between Taekwondo athletes. It is also a wonderful spectator sport for family and friends. And, it creates opportunities to develop long-lasting friendships with others that share our great interest in and love of Taekwondo.
