  • Each match will be single elimination
The following table outlines the limits for All Matches for Gyuroogi(Sparring)Competition for Blue, Red and Black Belts

Blue/Red Belts All Ages 1 Minute 3 30 Secs
Black Belt Ages 13 & Under 1 Min 3 30 Secs
Black Belt Ages 14 & Up 2 Mins 3 1 Min



Junior Safety Rules(Sparring)
  • All Color Belts under 17 Years, Head Shots are not allowed
    • A Point will be deducted or contestants shall be disqualified if a head contact causes any injury or excessive contact
  • Referees have all the rights to decide
  • All Black Belts 13 years of age and under are to follow the Junior safety Rules
    • Only light, controlled head contact is allowed
    • A Competitor who executes a successful technique(light contact without causing any injury) shall be awarded one point only; if there is a Referee count, no additional points will be awarded
  • Other Color Belts Contestants(18 & above) and Black Belts(14 & above) are to follow the standard WTF Sparring(Gyuroogi) rules
Sparring(Gyuroogi) Point System score
  • Sparring will be WTF style
  • WTF Rule:
    • Shot on the body = One point
    • Shot on the head = Two points(only ages 14 & up Black Belts and ages 18 & over All Belts)
    • Any techniques that causes an eight count = An additional one point(only ages 14 & up Black Belts and ages 18 & over All Belts)
  • Decisions
    • Win by K.O(knock-out)
    • Win by Referee Stop Contest(RSC)
    • Win by Score or Superiority
      • Win by Final Score
      • Win by Point Gap
        When there is a 7-point gap, the match will be stopped and a winner declared
      • Win by Point Ceiling
        When a competitor scores 12 points, the match shall be stopped and the competitor shall be declared the winner
    • Win by withdrawal
    • Win by disqualification
    • Win by referee's punitive declaration
